Echinocactus grusonii (Golden Barrel Cactus)

Echinocactus grusonii (Golden Barrel Cactus) is a succulent native to Central Mexico. While its time in trade is unknown in Australia it is not a recognised weed and has not naturalised in Australia or elsewhere globally. It does not reproduce vegetatively or produce copious seeds. Golden Barrel Cactus produces a slow growing barrel-shaped stem up to 90 cm in height and spread. The stem is pale green and heavily ribbed with golden yellow spines.
