Corymbia ‘Summer Red’ is a an evergreen tree. It is a hybrid of two Australian species: Corymbia ficifolia from south-west Western Australia and Corymbia ptychocarpa from tropical northern Australia. Summer Red is grown for the showy large, red, gum-blossoms which appear in summer. In the eastern states it is usually grafted onto a rootstock that can cope with the more humid climate. Neither parents or hybrid are known be invasive anywhere.
