Callerya megasperma (Native Wisteria)

Callerya megasperma (Native Wisteria) is a an evergreen climbing plant with glossy pinnate leaves. It is native to the rainforests of northern NSW and south-east Queensland. Its flowers are similar in colour and shape to the exotic Chinese Wisteria. It is a hardy plant for tropical and subtropical environments, preferring full sun to part shade. Native Wisteria is not recorded as naturalised beyond its native range or invasive anywhere. It has been in trade in Australia (as Wisteria megasperma) since 1875. It is an important plant for the native Penciled Blue Butterfly.
