This grass tree species is native to the eastern Australian states of QLD, NSW, VIC. While it is unknown how long it has been in the ornamental trade in Australia, it is not known to have become naturalised nor invasive anywhere in the world. This species is culturally important in Australia. While this iconic plant has a slow growth rate it can achieve a height of 1-5 meters and is adapted to survive fires.
