Tristaniopsis laurina (Water Gum, Kanooka)

( Melaleuca laurina, Tristania bakeriana)

This tree is native to QLD, NSW and VIC. It is unknown how long it has been in the plant trade for, but it has not become naturalised outside its native range. It is considered naturalised in New Zealand, but there are no records of invasive behaviour anywhere in the world. It produces yellow flowers that bloom from late spring to early summer. It is a popular ornamental because it is easy to grow and is a good shade tree. Highly used as street trees, especially in Sydney.
