Polyscias sambucifolia (Elderberry Panax, Ornamental Ash)

(Nothopanax sambucifolius, Panax angustifolius)

This shrub or small tree, which grows to 5 m tall, is native to eastern Australia, QLD, NSW and VIC. It is unknown how long it has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia. While it is not known to have become invasive anywhere, it has become naturalised in TAS. Seeds are dispersed by birds that eat the blue fruits. Elderberry Panax is an attractive foliage plant.
