Ozothamnus diosmifolius (Rice Flower, White Dogwood, Pill Flower)

(Gnaphalium diosmaefolium, Helichrysum diosmifolium )

This endemic shrub is native to Queensland and New South Wales. Although it is unknown how long the species has been in the ornamental trade, it has been recorded as naturalised in Western Australia. However, there is no evidence of impacts anywhere in Australia or the world. The plant can reach 5m in height and it is commonly found in sandy gravel. It produces opaque white or pink flower heads from late winter to spring. Seeds are wind dispersed. The species is known to hybridise with Ozothamnus diotophyllus in Queensland.
