Lomandra hystrix (Slender Mat Rush, Green Mat-rush, Mat Rush)

This perennial, rhizomatous herb is found throughout eastern Australia and grows to 1 m. Slender Mat Rush has no documentation of invasiveness in Australia. Closely related to L. longifolia, it grows beside watercourses in upland and mountain rain forest. It is often used in revegetation and erosion control programs. This hardy plant can grow in any climate. Slender Mat Rush has strappy green leaves and produces yellow-cream flowers.
