Howea forsteriana (Kentia Palm, Thatch Palm, Palm Court Palm)
(Kentia forsteriana, Grisebachia forsteriana)This medium sized (10m) slow growing palm tree is native to Lord Howe Island. While there is no information on how long it has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia, it has been a popular ‘parlor palm’ since the 1870s. This species is not considered invasive anywhere in the world. It may have naturalised on Norfolk Island. It is considered vulnerable by the World Conservation union and its seeds and seedlings are tightly regulated. Kentia Palm is suitable for indoor or outdoor planting.
