Hakea nodosa (Yellow hakea)

(Hakea flexilis, Hakea semiplana)

This medium sized perennial shrub, which grows to 3-4 m tall, is native to SA, VIC and TAS. It has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia since 1987, but it is not known to have naturalised or invasive anywhere. Seeds are produced in two types of seed pods, one which is woody and requires fire to open, the other smooth and not woody and will open while attached to the branch. Yellow Hakea has needle-like leaves and produces cream to yellow flower blooms along the branches.
