Hakea dactyloides (Finger Hakea, Broad-leaved Hakea)

This perennial shrub, which grows to 1-3 m, is native to NSW and VIC in heath, dry sclerophyll forest and woodlands. In Australia this species has been traded in the ornamental plant trade since 1937. It has naturalised beyond its native range in Australia (i.e., in WA) but is not regarded as an environmental weed. Although introduced to counties overseas (e.g. England and France) it is not known to have become naturalised or invasive. Produces attractive flowers in spring followed by hard woody seed pods.
