Daviesia arborea (Golden Pea; Bitterleaf Pea)

(Daviesia corymbosa var. arborea)

Daviesia arborea is a large shrub or small tree, 6 – 14 m tall, native to Australia (QLD and NSW). While it is unknown how long it has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia, it is not known to have become naturalised or invasive. Golden Pea has corky bark and is an attractive, low maintenance, garden plant. It has drooping branches and produces fragrant yellow flowers with faint red markings. Flowering occurs in spring between September and October, attracting bees and various insects. The fruiting period is from December to January.
