Brachychiton bidwillii (Little Kurrajong)

(Sterculia bidwilli, Clompanus bidwillii)

This small Australian tree, which grows 2-6 m tall, is native to south-east Queensland. This species is not known to be invasive or to have naturalised anywhere outside of its native range. Two popular clones are fairly widely propagated by grafting in south-east Queensland: ‘Large Pink’ (or ‘Beau Bells’) and ‘Large Red’. The tree produces bell shaped flowers on bare branches in early spring and starts flowering when young. Widely suitable for tropical, subtropical or coastal regions.
