Acronychia acidula (Lemon Aspen; Lemon Wood)

(Acronychia superba)

This rainforest tree is endemic to North-East Queensland. It grows to 15m and has large glossy leaves.  It produces small flowers and edible fruits used in beverages, sauces and confectionery. At least one species of bird is known to eat and disperse the fruits [Topknot Pigeon (Lopholaimus antarcticus)]. It is unknown how long it has been in the Australian plant trade for but it has not become naturalised anywhere outside its native range in Australia or anywhere in the world.
