Grevillea ‘Superb’ (Superb Grevillea)
This native cultivar is a shrub with green fern-like leaves and large coral-pink and yellow flowers (similar to Grevillea ‘Robyn Gordon’ with which they share the same parents). The cultivar’s parents are Grevillea banksii and G. bipinnatifida, both low risk native species. However, G. banksii has naturalised beyond its native range within Australia and is invasive in South Africa, Hawaii, La Reunion, and USA (but there are no evidence of impacts in Australia to date). The cultivar’s flowers are salmon with the perianth changing to red as they age and they attract hummingbirds. The styles are red with yellow tips. It can cause skin irritations on some people.
