Grevillea ‘Honey Gem’ (Grevillea)
The native cultivar Grevillea ‘Honey Gem’ is believed to be a hybrid between G. pteridifolia and G. banksii. The parents are both native species with a low risk of invasiveness. Grevillea pteridifolia has not become naturalised outside its native range nor invasive anywhere in the world, however G. banksii has naturalised beyond its native range within Australia and is invasive in South Africa, Hawaii, La Reunion, and USA. The cultivar is fast-growing, reaching a maximum height of 4 meters. It produces large, golden-yellow racemes of flowers year-round, with a flush in late winter/spring. The flowers attract honey-eating birds. It produces viable seed.
