Zelkova serrata (Japanese Zelkova, Keyaki)

This deciduous tree is native to Japan, Taiwan and parts of China. The species has been in ornamental trade in Australia since 1969 and has not been reported to have naturalised. However, it is reported to have naturalised in parts of north-eastern United States where there is a moderate degree of climate similarity to NSW. The leaves on Japanese Zelkova turn copper red in Autumn.
