Watsonia hysterantha (Autumn Watsonia)

This perennial herb is endemic to the Western Cape region of South Africa. There is no data with regard to how long it has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia. The species is not known to have become naturalised or invasive anywhere in the world. Its close relative, W. meriana is a declared noxious weed in SA. The species reproduces by subterranean corms and seed which are dispersed by wind. There are areas in NSW with similar climate to the species native range.
