Viburnum tinus (Laurustinus)

Laurustinus native to northern Africa, the Azores, the Canary Islands, southern Europe, the middle-east and western Asia. It has been in cultivation in Australia since 1803 and has naturalised in SA, ACT, VIC, and possibly TAS. Although the fruit is spread by birds, there is no evidence that the species is invasive. Climate modelling in Victoria indicates the species has some capacity to become a serious environmental weed in the future. Laurustinus is a popular shrub, often grown as a hedge and for its pink and white flowers. It is hardy and can cope with a wide range of climate conditions.
