Veronica salicifolia (Willow-leaf Hebe, Koromiko)

( Hebe fonkii)

This large shrub is native to New Zealand and Chile. Despite being in the ornamental trade in Australia since 1850, there is no evidence the species has naturalised. Willow-leaf Hebe has naturalised in Europe, including in the Azores, Britain, and Ireland. There is no evidence the species is invasive in areas outside its native range. Reproduction is via seed. Fruit is produced from January – June, and the seeds are dispersed by wind. Hebe species are known to have some degree of toxicity. Willow-leaf Hebe has cylindrical white to pale lilac flowers.
