Trachelospermum jasminoides (Star Jasmine)

( Nerium divaricatum, Parechites adnascens)

Trachelospermum jasminoides is native to China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. It is a fast-growing liana often grown as an ornamental. Star Jasmine has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia since 1843 and has not become naturalised. It does not produce seeds when growing in cultivation but spreads vegetatively by cuttings, stem fragments, and lateral extensions of the stems. Star Jasmine colonises new areas by self-layers, sending out roots from leaf nodes and stem tips wherever they touch the ground. Although it possesses invasive traits, there is no evidence of impacts anywhere in the world. Star Jasmine has a highly attractive scent.
