Tabebuia rosea (Pink Poui; Pink Tecoma; Apamate; Rosy Trumpet Tree)

(Bignonia fluviatilis, Couralia rosea)

This evergreen tree is native from Mexico through Central America to Venezuela and Ecuador. There is no evidence that it has become naturalised in Australia despite being in the ornamental plant trade since 1865. It reproduces by wind-dispersed seed, as well as by air layering. It is an early maturing plant which flowers 3 years after germination. There is a moderate level of climate similarity between its native range and NSW. The flowers are pink purple and trumpet in shape.
