Strobilanthes persicifolia (Goldfussia, Persian Shield)

(Strobilanthes anisophylla)

Strobilanthes persicifolia is an evergreen bushy shrub native to northeast India. The species has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia since 1850 and has since become naturalised in QLD and NSW. However, there is no evidence that the species is invasive anywhere in the world. Flowers appear in spring and intermittently throughout the year. There is no information about its natural modes of reproduction but its close relatives produce viable seed.
