Strelitzia nicolai (Giant White Bird of Paradise, Natal Wild Banana)

Strelitzia nicolai is a tall evergreen plant native to South Africa. It has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia since 1964 and has since become naturalised in QLD and sparingly in NSW with two populations in the wild. However, there is no evidence that the species has become invasive anywhere in the world. It is a very popular ornamental plant in Australia. It reproduces both by seed and suckering. The seeds are dispersed by birds.
