Salvia uliginosa (Blue Spike Sage, Bog Sage)

Blue Spike Sage is a large herbaceous perennial that is native to Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. It has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia since 1941 and has not become naturalised in that time. Its congener, S. reflexa is a noxious weed in parts of Australia. The species tolerates poorly drained soils and may rapidly spread underground in wet soils by means of rhizomes. There is a high level of climate similarity between its native range and NSW.
