Salvia greggii (Autumn Sage, Cherry Sage)

This shrub is native to Texas and Mexico. It has been in the Australian plant trade for less than 30 years and has not become naturalised in the country nor overseas. There is no evidence that this species presents invasive behaviour anywhere in the world. It flowers from spring to frost and reproduces via seeds. The native region has high climatic similarity with all of Australia except for Tasmania. Together with S. microphylla it is one of the parents of the hybrid Salvia x jamensis.
