Radermachera sinica (China Doll, Emerald Tree)

(Stereospermum sinicum, Radermachera tonkinensis)

This fast-growing evergreen tree is native to the mountainous regions of southern China. It is a fairly new plant in the ornamental market and there is no data as to how long it has been in trade in Australia. The species is not known to have become naturalised or invasive in Australia or any part of the world. The plant naturally reproduces by seed. There is a moderate level of climate similarity between its native range and parts of NSW. China Doll is a suitable indoor plant and will flower with age and sufficient light, producing white trumpet-like flowers.
