Platanus orientalis (Oriental Plane Tree)

The native range of this deciduous tree extends from south-eastern Europe into western Asia. It has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia since 1843 and has not become naturalised in that time. There is no evidence that the species has become invasive in any part of the world. Platanus orientalis reproduces primarily by seed. Most species of plane trees are prolific seed producers. Oriental Plane Tree has maple like lobed leaves and is a hardy street tree.
