Photinia davidiana (Chinese Photinia; Chinese Stranvaesia; Matchweed)

This perennial shrub has a native range which extends from central and southern China to northern Vietnam, Taiwan, northern Sumatera, and Borneo. There is no data on how long the species has been in the ornamental trade in Australia but there is no evidence the species has become naturalised. However, it has become naturalised in parts of Hawaii and New Zealand, with similar climate to some parts of NSW. This species is considered to be, and is managed as, an environmental weed in parts of Hawaii with similar climatic conditions to some area in NSW. The species reproduces by bird-dispersed seed.
