Philodendron bipinnatifidum (Lacy Tree Philodendron)

( Arum pinnatifidum)

This perennial shrub is a native of southern Brazil and adjacent areas of Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay. It has been in the ornamental trade in Australia since 1958 and has not become naturalised in that time. Further, there is no evidence that the species has become naturalised or invasive anywhere in the world. The plant is said to be poisonous to humans and pets. Reproduction is by animal-dispersed seed. The climate of its native range is similar to that of some parts of NSW.
