Nipponanthemum nipponicum (Nippon Daisy, Montauk Daisy)

( Chrysanthemum nipponicum, Leucanthemum nipponicum )

This perennial herb native to Japan produces white daisies with a green centre. It is unknown how long it has been in the Australian plant trade, but it is not naturalised in the country, only in the United States. It is not recorded as invasive anywhere in the world. It blooms from mid-summer to early autumn and it can be propagated by division or seeds. One source maintains that it is toxic to humans and animals.
