Mandevilla boliviensis (White Mandevilla, White Dipladenia)

(Dipladenia boliviensis, D. bella)

This tender woody vine is a native of Costa Rica, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil. The species has been in the ornamental trade in Australia since 1875 and has not become naturalised in that time. There is no evidence to show that the species is naturalised or that it is invasive anywhere in the world. It produces fruits which contain many seeds that are wind-dispersed. Reproduction is primarily by seed. All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested and the sap can cause rashes.
