Magnolia campbellii (Campbell's Magnolia)

This deciduous tree is native to Asia (including southern-central China, the eastern Himalayas, Myanmar, Nepal and Tibet). Despite being in the ornamental trade in Australia since 1885, this species has not naturalised. There is also no evidence to suggest the species has become invasive elsewhere outside its native range. Reproduction is via seed, which is likely bird-dispersed. A closely related species, Magnolia kobus, is considered invasive in the USA, including in areas with a similar climate to parts of NSW.
