Lonicera ligustrina var. yunnanensis (Boxleaf Honeysuckle)
(Lonicera nitida, Lonicera pileata f. yunnanensis)Lonicera ligustrina var. yunnanenis (syn. Lonicera nitida) is an evergreen shrub native to central China. Despite being in the ornamental trade since 1928, this species has not naturalised in Australia. Boxleaf Honeysuckle has naturalised elsewhere, including in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Belgium. There is no evidence the species has become invasive in areas outside its native range. Reproduction is via seed. The fleshy berries are likely dispersed by birds. A closely related species, Lonicera japonica, is invasive in Australia (including in NSW).
