Liriope muscari (Blue Lily Turf, Big Blue Lilyturf, Monkey Grass)
(Liriope exiliflora, Liriope gigantea)This is a perennial herb native to temperate forests of China and Korea. There is no data to show how long the species has been in the Australian ornamental plant trade but it has not naturalised in Australia. Liriope muscari has become naturalised in South Africa which has a similar climate to parts of Australia and is considered an environmental weed in the USA. It spreads vegetatively and forms dense clumps. There is a low degree of climate similarity between its native range and some parts of NSW. Liriope muscari is a popular ornamental plant in Australia. Blue Lily Turf has grassy like foliage and produces erect clusters of violet flowers.
