Leucanthemum maximum (Daisy-chrysanthemum)
This herbaceous perennial is native to Spain and France. There is no data on how long it has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia but there are reports it has become naturalised in parts of the country. There is concern that the species name has been misapplied to L. x suberbum in the past. There are no records from overseas to show that the species has become invasive anywhere. The species reproduces by wind dispersed seeds and some data suggests it also reproduces vegetatively. As a member of Asteraceae, it is likely that the species produces large amounts of seed. Some parts of NSW have climate similar to the species’ native range. The species produces white flowers.
