Lavandula multifida (Cut-leaf Lavender, French Lace)
This fragrant herb or shrub is native to Europe and northern Africa. There is no evidence that this species is naturalised or invasive in Australia, despite being in ornamental trade since 1926. There is no evidence it has naturalised or become invasive elsewhere globally. Reproduction is via seed. Flowering may occur throughout the year in warm winter locations. Cut-leaf Lavender produces deep blue-violet flowers. The strong aroma of the plant and vibrant flowers attract bees and other insects. A closely related species, Lavandula stoechas, is invasive in Australia and a declared weed in VIC and WA.
