Jasminum officinale (Common Jasmine; Summer Jasmine)

(Jasminum affine, )

This species is an exotic deciduous shrub native to the border of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, and South Central China. It has been in the Australian ornamental trade since 1843 and has not become naturalised in that time. Although the species has naturalised in many countries around the world (e.g. the USA, the UK, Italy), it has not been recorded as invasive anywhere to date. The plant has long weak branches when young which allow it to behave as a climber. It has a long flowering season with white fragrant star-shaped flowers present from summer to early autumn.
