Hebe albicans (Shrubby Veronica, White Veronica)

( Veronica albicans)

This shrub is native to New Zealand. Shrubby Veronica has been in the ornamental trade in Australia since 1933. There is no evidence the species has naturalised in Australia or elsewhere. Reproduction is via seed. Fruit is produced from February – August, and the winged seeds are dispersed by wind. Hebe species are known to have some degree of toxicity. Shrubby Veronica can be used for hedging and produces bunches of white flowers that will attract butterflies and insects.
