Fraxinus ornus (Manna Ash)
This deciduous tree is native to southern Europe and western Asia. It has likely naturalised in Australia (in SA and VIC) and has also naturalised in New Zealand. Manna Ash has been recorded as invasive in Ukraine, although evidence of impacts was not found. This species reproduces via winged seeds (samaras). Seeds are predominately wind-dispersed, but may also be dispersed by water. Species within this genus are known to cause skin irritation in humans. A closely related species, Fraxinus angustifolia subsp. angustifolia, is a declared plant in South Australia (and known to be invasive there). Manna Ash produces aromatic white flowers in spring with dark green foliage that turn burgundy to pink-orange in autumn.
