Fraxinus griffithii (Himalayan Ash, Evergreen Ash)
This small or medium-sized evergreen tree is native to the Indian Sub-continent (i.e., Bangladesh and India), China, Taiwan and south-eastern Asia (i.e., Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines). There is no data about how long it has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia. The species is reported to have become sparingly naturalised in south-eastern QLD. There is some degree of climate similarity between its native range and parts of NSW. There is no evidence that the species has become invasive in any part of the world. Fraxinus griffithii reproduces by seed which are dispersed by wind, water and in dumped garden waste. The tree has glossy leaves and small flowers in spring give the tree a fluffy look.
