Escallonia laevis (Escallonia)

This evergreen shrub is native to Brazil. Escallonia has been in the ornamental trade in Australia since 1850. Escallonia has not naturalised in Australia, or elsewhere outside its native range. Escallonia fruit is a dry capsule and each fruit contains up to 100 tiny seeds.
