Crassula ovata (Jade Plant, Friendship plant)

Jade Plant is a much-branched perennial shrub, native to the Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and Transvaal provinces of South Africa. There is no data about how long it has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia. The species has been reported to have become naturalised in Australia although some records suggest that this is doubtful. There is no evidence that the species has become invasive in any part of the world. Crassula ovata reproduces by wind-dispersed seed, and also vegetatively. There is a high degree of climate similarity between its native range and parts of NSW.
