Convolvulus cneorum (Silverbush)

This showy shrub is native to southern Europe and northern Africa (including Italy and the Balkan Peninsula). Although the species has been in the ornamental trade in Australia since 1873, the species has not naturalised here, it has however naturalised in New Zealand. There is no evidence that this species is invasive outside its native range. Reproduction is likely via both seed and vegetative means. Silverbush has the potential to spread into bushland via garden waste. A closely related species, Convolvulus arvensis, is a declared plant in South Australia and is also considered an environmental weed in QLD, VIC, TAS and WA.
