Cedrus libani (Cedar of Lebanon)

This large coniferous tree is native to the mountainous regions of Turkey, Syria and Lebanon. It has been widely cultivated as a garden plant, especially in England. Although once widespread in its native range, Cedar of Lebanon is now listed as vulnerable by the IUCN. Despite being in ornamental trade in Australia since 1843, the species has not naturalised. There is also no evidence this species is invasive outside its native range. Once the mature seed cones open, the winged seeds are dispersed by wind.
