Cedrus deodara (Deodar Cedar, Himalayan Cedar)

This large perennial coniferous tree is native to the western Himalayas, where it is an important source of timber. The species has been in ornamental trade in Australia since 1843 and has not naturalised. Whilst evidence suggests Deodar Cedar has naturalised in the south-western United States, there is no evidence it is invasive outside its native range. Deodar Cedar is slow growing, and its seeds take a year to mature after pollination. The winged seeds are dispersed by wind.
