Camellia reticulata (Yennan Camellia)

This shrub is native to south-western China, where it has a long history of cultivation. Yennan Camellia is grown for its seed oil and is also a popular ornamental plant. This species has been in ornamental trade in Australia since 1843 and has not naturalised in this time. There is no evidence that Yennan Camellia is invasive outside its native range. Seedlings establish from seed close to the base of the parent plant, making long distance dispersal unlikely.
