Aspidistra elatior (cast-iron plant )

A hardy clumping perennial herb that is native to China and Japan. Cast-Iron Plant has a fleshy rhizome which can be easily separated to propagate new plants. Flowers are rarely produced in houseplants. Despite being in the ornamental trade in Australia since 1875, there is no evidence it has naturalised. There is also no evidence this species has naturalised or become invasive elsewhere outside its native range.
