Argyranthemum frutescens (Marguerite Daisy)

( Chrysanthemum frutescens, Anthemis frutescens)

This is a perennial herb native to the Canary Islands. The Marguerite Daisy has a round habit and features white daisy flowers with yellow centres. It has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia since 1890 in Australia and has since become naturalised in SA and WA. Two of its subspecies are considered as environmental weeds in SA and WA. There is no evidence of invasive behaviour anywhere in the world. The species is likely reproduced by wind-dispersed seeds. There are areas in NSW with a similar climate to the species’ native range.
