Agapanthus inapertus (Drooping Agapanthus, Drakensburg Agapanthus)

This herbaceous, perennial plant is native to South Africa. It has drooping, deep purple flowers in summer. There is no data on how long it has been in the ornamental plant trade in Australia. The species has not been shown to have become naturalised or invasive in any region outside its native range. Reproduction is by seeds which have low viability. The seeds are likely wind-dispersed. Plants are tolerant to frost and can therefore do well in cold areas.
